What is Window Tint?

Window film or Windows tint is a thin laminate film that can be installed on the interior or exterior of glass surfaces in vehicles, boats, and buses and also on the interior or exterior of glass in homes and buildings. It is usually made from polyethylene terephthalate, and however, unlike what is believed, the opacity of the film has no influence on the protection it offers, that is, if it is a completely transparent film, it does not mean that it does not have protection against UV rays.

Window Tint are generically categorized by their construction components like dyed, pigmented, metallized, ceramic, or nano. By their intended use like automotive, marine, or architectural, and by their technical performance: privacy, solar control, safety, and security.

Is it worth it to get Window Tint?

With the increase in skin diseases such as skin cancer, it is necessary to keep in mind the time that is exposed to UV rays, and the ways to counteract its harmful effects. On average people spend 4 to 5 hours a day driving and for this reason the process of putting a protective barrier on the windows of your vehicle can help you both keep the interior of the vehicle cool, as well as protect your health.

On the other hand, there is a break-in every 90 seconds in Canada in all different situations and areas. Everyone is vulnerable to these break-ins, so we should all take as many security precautions as possible. Windows tend to have an enormous potential for issues and entry into your vehicle. But that can easily be remedied with simple reinforcement measures.

So, if you ask me if it is worth installing it, I would say yes, besides it gives the car a cool touch, and the window’s tint gives privacy and protection.

Opacities

When you have in mind to install the protective film, you can determine it by the degree of opacity you want to have, that is, the level of transparency and how much you want it to be seen inside your vehicle. In the following images you can find an example of the different opacities that are on the market and an example of how the different tint percentages, or as is call it Variable Light Transfers (VLT’s), could look on the front, sides, and back of your vehicle.
